Watch Your Words
About the Campaign
Welcome to Watch Your Words, a national campaign calling out the politicians, leaders, and authority figures who use language that dismisses, blames, or stigmatises young people.
This campaign is led by Be Free Campaign, co-designed with our youth board. Because too often society fails to listen to young people’s views. Let’s change this.
#FromNEETtoLEET
Part one of Watch Your Words is #NEETtoLEET. We believe that the term NEET is outdated and puts a stagnant label on a young person who is looking for their next steps. Without any consideration for the current state of the world and the challenges that a young person out of work or education will be experiencing. That's why we are calling for everyone to use LEET, Looking for Employment, Education or Training.

Youth Mental Health Summit
October 28th 2026
The Youth Mental Health Summit will bring together young people, professionals, community organisations and political leaders from across the North West, with scope for national engagement.

Created by Be Free Campaign’s Youth Board, the Summit is fully youth led. Young people will not simply attend, they will shape the agenda, lead discussions, chair panels and influence outcomes. The day will centre lived experience alongside professional expertise, ensuring that conversations directly influence action.
The Summit has three core objectives:
• Amplify youth voice
• Challenge stereotypes and promote positive conversations about young people and mental health
• Strengthen local networks by connecting schools, universities, charities, health services, businesses and policymakers

The event will coincide with our Youth Board-led campaign, Watch Your Words, which challenges stigmatising and harmful language surrounding mental health, identity and culture. Through speeches, panels and interactive activities, the Summit will explore how language, culture and systems shape young people’s wellbeing, and how communities can respond more constructively and compassionately.
£5,000 to £10,000
We did it! Thanks to you!

Our fundraising target for this campaign was £5,000, automatically doubled to £10,000 ... and we’re thrilled to share that we reached our goal.

This incredible support means we can now reach another 1,000 children and young people, offering help before they hit crisis point.

Last year, we supported 1,034 young people across the entire year, so reaching this number in just one week is a huge milestone.
Thank you for making it possible.
