REFLECTION

Taking the time to meditate and think about your thoughts, actions, motivation and approach to life is a skill that many people develop.

WHY REFLECT?

ALLOWS YOU TO GAIN PERSPECTIVE

There are times in life where your feelings can cloud your judgement and you can lose sight of the things that matter. Activities that allow you to reflect allow you to take a step back and gain standpoints on things that do matter.

ALLOWS US TO MAKE BETTER DECISIONS

In the majority of times in our lives, we tend to react immediately to whatever life throws at us. This can results us in making decisions that we regret later on. There are times where we don't give ourselves enough time to think about the consequences of our words and actions. Reflecting allows us to think of the outcomes of decisions that we make and allows us to weigh out the best possible decision in alot of situations.

IT HELPS YOU LEARN NEW THINGS

When we go through life without looking back to think and reflect, we don't develop a deeper understanding of life. Reflecting allows us to think deeper about what we're going through, our emotions and goals.

How can i reflect?

Find a good location to reflect.

Find a place that's quiet and comfortable - this could be at home or outside in a garden or park. Try to keep distractions to minimum to help you properly reflect.

Set a time limit.

Setting a time limit to reflect (about half an hour for example) helps you avoid getting stuck in your train of thought for too long and avoids overthinking.

Journal.

Write your thoughts down so you can look back at them. Writing your thoughts can also help you move on from certain life events.. Be more aware of the present moment, notice your surroundings and remember to be grateful for things you have.

Some journalling prompts.

- How am I feeling today?

- What am I grateful for?

- How can I show kindness to someone I care for?

- What's great about me? What am I good at?

- How can I improve as a person?

- Which parts of my life do I love the most?
