GIVING

There is a positive relationship between giving to the community and an increase in mental wellbeing.

WHY GIVE?

CREATE A SENSE OF REWARD AND POSITIVITY

***It releases endorphins and serotonin which help you feel good. The same endorphins that make you feel good are the same chemicals that sharpen your memory and thinking.

ENDORPHIN RELEASE

When we give to other people, areas associated with happiness, trust and social connection are activated in our brains. This releases endorphins for both the giver and reciever.

GIVES A SENSE OF PURPOSE

As well as giving a happiness boost, giving increases life satisfaction, and gives a sense of purpose. Even the smallest acts count, such as giving a smile or saying "thank you".

ADDITIONAL WAY TO CONNECT

Giving is an additional way to stay connected to the outside world. You can find out more here.

How can I give?

Help your loved ones

Here are a few things you can do!

- Give compliments and praise.

- Offer to help out at home and do your share of chores.

- Clean up your environment after yourself.

- Listen to any concerns anyone may have and support your loved ones when needed.

Help your colleagues

Here are a few things you can do!

- Be patient - people pick up new skills and learn new things at different rates, so always be patient and kind.

- Offer to help out if you have time.

- Be there for your colleagues

- it's good to have a good support system in times of need. Listening to your colleagues and being there is a great way to give.

Other things you can do

- Saying "thank you" after someone has done something nice to you.

- Donate something that you don't really use anymore.

- Speak to a loved one who needs company or support.

- Offer to give a hand if you see a stranger struggling with a pushchair or their shopping.

- Volunteer for a charity! Why not apply here?
